Holds a Ph.D. in political science from the Institut d’Etudes Politiques de Paris (IEP). Has taught in the Research Masters in International Relations at the University of Paris, the Research Masters in International Relations at Sciences Po and the Stanford Program in Paris. Member of the Scientific Council of Sciences Po since 2007. Author and/or editor of a dozen books and collaborative volumes.
In addition to his work on foreign policy and defense and to his interest in interviewing methodology, his research focuses on the relations between States and non-State actors and on democracies in the war against terrorism. Since October 2009, he is member of the editorial board of the review Inflexions.
He participates in the CERI's Transversal Project “The End of Violence”
