Holds degrees in economics (Université Paris I), political science (IEP de Paris), Chinese (Taiwan National Normal University) and a Ph.D. in political science. Winner of the 2005 award of the Franco-Taiwanese Cultural Foundation (Academy of Moral and Political Sciences). Lecturer at the Institut National des Langues et Civilizations Orientales (INALCO) between 2002 and 2006 and at Sciences Po since 1994. Member of the editorial boards of China Information (University of Leiden, The Netherlands) and The China Quarterly. Founding member of FASOPO.
Her research focuses on the formation of the state in the Chinese world from a historical sociology perspective.

- Imperial legacy and formation of the state in the Chinese world
- Taiwanese entrepreneurs and the political economy of China's partition
